DYLAN'S & LLANBERIS MOUNTAIN RESCUE TEAM
3 peaks, 3 restaurants, 3 counties, 12 hours. Join us in supporting the Llanberis Mountain Rescue Team by participating in this exciting sponsored walk. Funds raised at this event will sponsor vital projects important for future development of the team.
The Llanberis Mountain Rescue team receives the highest number of emergency callouts of any mountain rescue team in the UK. The Team is made up entirely of volunteers who are on call 24 hours a day, 365 days a year to respond to those in need on Snowdon and the surrounding mountains.
Chairman of the Llanberis Mountain Rescue Team, Alun Allcock, said, “We rely solely on donations to fund our rescue service and our team of 45 volunteers have to raise £61,000 just to cover annual running costs. With 180 to 210 incidents annually, increasing year on year, these costs are only set to rise.”
Dylan's is partnering with LLMRT in 2020 to raise money to support the charity, who intend to use donations from the event to fund the first phase of development for a new Digital Mobile Radio system for the Team to use on Snowdon and the surrounding peaks.
THE DAY IN BRIEF
The day will begin at Dylan's Criccieth with registration and breakfast - our first 'trough' and first county, Gwynedd. After a short journey into Snowdonia, we'll commence the 795m ascent of our first peak, Eldir Fach. One summit and descent later, we'll travel through Snowdonia and into Anglesey.
Our second peak is Holyhead Mountain | Mynydd y Twr which, weather permitting, will afford great views across the island towards Menai Bridge, our next 'trough'. Following the descent, at the foot of the second mountain, we'll reinvigorate with refreshments at Myfanwy, the Dylan's food truck, before travelling back the length of Anglesey | Ynys Môn towards Dylan's Menai Bridge for lunch.
After a break at the restaurant, we'll return to our vehicles and travel along the A55 up the coast to Conwy, to summit Conwy Mountain | Mynydd y Dref, the final ascent of the day. A leisurely walk later, we'll regroup at Dylan's Llandudno, our third and final 'trough' and enjoy a dinner and a well deserved rest in the iconic Hewitt Room.
