THE CHALLENGE

Join us once more in 2024! On June 30th, we are once again joining forces & supporting the North Wales Mountain Rescue teams by participating in this exciting sponsored walk.

Three counties, three peaks & three troughs (that’s the part where you eat & drink!) in one brilliant day, celebrating the natural beauty of North Wales.

£65 per person, including breakfast, lunch, dinner, medal, event maps & info pack.

Proceeds from each ticket sold go directly to NWMWRT, who rely solely on donations and their teams of volunteers in each area, to raise tens of thousands in annual running costs.

After the fundraising success & support of last year’s event, we are excited to make a return to the beautiful scenery & the local produce of North Wales. Last year, we raised an impressive £5,028 & would love to raise even more for this special cause!

THE CAUSE

The North Wales Mountain Rescue Association (NWMRA) is the umbrella organisation for mountain, cave & lowland rescue across North Wales. NWMRA support teams with training & equipment as needed & provide regional responses to major events such as flooding & severe weather. You may have seen many of the NWMRA teams in action in the current BBC series SOS Extreme Rescues.

Chairman of NWMRA, Tim Radford, said:

“We are the busiest mountain rescue region in the UK, with Llanberis Mountain Rescue Team, one of our members, being the busiest mountain rescue team in the country.”

“We are on call 24 hours a day, 365 days a year, to respond to those in need across the mountains, hills & caves of North Wales.”

“The running costs of our member teams equates to many hundreds of thousands of pounds each year. With nearly 700 incidents across the region annually, increasing yearly, these costs are only set to rise.”

As we have restaurants in three of the North Wales Mountain Rescue Association’s operating counties - Gwynedd, Anglesey & Conwy - we are again partnering with them in 2024 to raise money to support the charity, who intend to use donations from the event to continue to fund and improve their life-saving network of teams.

THE DAY IN BRIEF:

The day will begin at Dylan's Criccieth with registration & breakfast - at our first 'trough' & first county, Gwynedd. After a short car journey into Eryri National Park, we'll commence the 669m ascent of our first peak, Carnedd y Filiast. One summit & descent later, we'll travel independently through Snowdonia & into Anglesey.

After our next ‘trough’ in Dylan’s Menai Bridge for lunch, we’ll head to our second peak - The colourful ancient copper mine of Parys Mountain | Mynydd Parys.

We'll return to our vehicles and travel along the A55 up the coast to Conwy, to summit The Great Orme | Y Gogarth, the final ascent of the day, where we’ll explore this spectacular headland of limestone with wonderful views of the town and beyond.

A leisurely walk later, we'll regroup at Dylan's Llandudno, our third & final 'trough' to enjoy a dinner & a well-deserved rest in the grand Hewitt Room with sweeping views across the Bay to the Great Orme & Llandudno Pier.
